Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in higher education by reshaping teaching practices, enhancing learning experiences, and preparing students for the demands of future careers. This study aimed to examine the role of artificial intelligence as a catalyst for educational transformation and its influence on students’ future skills and career readiness. The study took on a quantitative cross-sectional survey approach. The study surveyed students from selected public and private universities in Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan. These included Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, University of the Punjab Lahore, Government College University Faisalabad, University of Karachi, and University of Sindh Jamshoro. The sample size was 423 university students. The analysis was done using POSDCO. The chi-square, correlation, and regression analyses were performed. Artificial intelligence had a positive relationship with educational transformation (r = 0.724, p < 0.01). The results of the regression showed that artificial intelligence was a predictor of the development of future skills (R² = 0.610, p < 0.001). The results also showed that AI had a positive relationship with the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, digital skills, and adaptability, and that AI education helps to prepare the students for job opportunities (χ² = 18.674, p < 0.001). The results of this study showed that the incorporation of artificial intelligence into education systems helps to prepare students with the skills to thrive in the digital world and the world of technology.
