Background: This rapid development of Artificial Intelligence has had a massive impact on the educational process across the globe, with the emphasis on the traditional teacher-centered model being directed to the individualized and student-focused learning processes. In Pakistan, with big classrooms, lack of resources and unequal access to educational establishments being the recurrent issues, AI proposes a way to increase the effectiveness of learning, its accessibility and the engagement of learners. The effective integration of AI, however, is heavily reliant on student awareness, acceptance, and perceived usefulness of this type of technologies.
Objectives: The primary goal of the paper was to examine how Pakistani students are aware and perceive the use of Artificial Intelligence to support personalized and student-focused learning. Specifically, the study was supposed to examine the views of the students on the possibility of AI to serve the needs of the individual in the learning process, enhance student engagement, and identify the key challenges and ethical concerns associated with the introduction of AI into the education system.
Methodology: The research used a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design to gather information among the students who were enrolled in both the public and the private educational institutions in Pakistan. A structured questionnaire including demographic questions and Likert-scale statements on awareness of AI, personalized learning, student-centered education, and implementation challenges were used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages were used to analyze 510 valid responses to determine trends and patterns in perceptions of the students.
Findings: The results indicate that the level of awareness and the positive perception of Artificial Intelligence among students is generally high. Most of the respondents identified AI as a future of education and accepted its effectiveness in helping to personalize the learning rate, deliver instant feedback, and improve the learning experience. AI was generally seen as an empowering tool that will be used to supplement the teaching process, not to substitute teachers. Although these positive perceptions were made, key issues were raised about the limitations in infrastructure, the absence of teacher training, cost, data privacy, and inequality of access, which indicates a gap between the technological potential and institutional readiness.
Conclusion: The research also finds that although the Pakistani students show a high level of acceptance of AI as a driving force of personalized and student-focused education, the effective implementation of AI needs systematic planning, infrastructural growth, ethical governance, and capacity building. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensure equitable, effective, and sustainable integration of AI within Pakistan’s education system.
