Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Popular science education on adolescent psychology of students in Multan, Pakistan. This study adopted a qualitative research approach whereby participants were 30 youths aged 12-17 years from Tompkins County, NY Participants completed semi- structured interviews, focus group discussions and observed. The analysis of the themes identified that popular science education would improve adolescents’ emotional participation, cognitive learning, and interaction. Concerning the outcomes; participants were more curious, had a better understanding of science concepts, intellectual skills, and had enhanced team and interpersonal skills. It is therefore concerning that many students are not able to access such science education and this research provides impetus for the need for such positive human psychology. Through understanding the developmental needs of adolescent students, this research has passed a message in the applicability of popular science in enhancing student’s intellectual and emotional intelligence. The study also focuses on the effectiveness of utilising such educational endeavours in multicultural context around youths.
