Abstract

With the ever-growing digital transformation, organizations are becoming increasingly aware of the advantages of contemporary technologies. Nevertheless, as technology is adopted, the threat of cyberattacks and other security threats increases. Thus, further progressive strategies are required to address the ever-changing threats. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one possible solution. The purpose of this research paper was to conduct a systematic literature review (SLR) to evaluate the role of AI-based technologies in organizational cybersecurity and to determine their effectiveness relative to conventional cybersecurity strategies. The PRISMA flow diagram guided the review. Articles on EBSCO Host, Google Scholar, Science Direct, ProQuest & SCOPUS, as well as 73 remaining articles, were synthesized to include peer-reviewed articles published in the 2018-2023 period. The findings demonstrated that AI can influence cybersecurity at all stages of its life cycle, delivering benefits such as automation, threat intelligence, and enhanced cyber defense. However, it is also associated with problems such as adversarial attacks and the need for high-quality data, which may lead to inefficiencies in AI. These findings confirm the benefits of AI in cybersecurity, improving efficiency and resilience. These observations provide credible grounds for further studies on organizational cybersecurity. The findings can guide organizations in making sound decisions about AI applications by providing an objective perspective on its effects.
