The Effect of Spousal Behavior on Eating Restraint and Body Image Dissatisfaction among Married Women

Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the influence of spousal behaviour on body image dissatisfaction and eating restraint among married women.
Method: For this purpose standardized scales have been used to assess this relationship accurately. Body Shape Questionnaire short version (BSQ-8C) was used to assess the body image dissatisfaction among married women, Restraint sub-scale of Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) were used to evaluate eating restraint behaviour and a 7-items Dyadic Adjustment Scale DAS-7 were used to assess and evaluate the quality of relationship between married couple. The sample consisted of 204 women out which 63.6% were housewives and 36.4% were job holders and the investigation included measurement model and structural model.
Result: Findings of the data showed significance between spousal behavior and body image dissatisfaction. The data revealed meaningful relationship between negative body image and decreased dyadic adjustment.
Conclusion: The research marks the value of considering body image in both clinical evaluation and relationship counselling context.
