An Analysis of Undergraduate Students’ Beliefs and Practices Regarding Use of Social Media

The study was conducted to explore the Beliefs and practices of undergraduate students regarding use of social media. The objectives of study were to identify to examine the beliefs undergraduate students about use of social media. To investigate the practices of undergraduate students regarding use of social media .To find out the relationship between beliefs and practices of undergraduate students regarding use of social media .This study was based on quantitative method of research and descriptive in nature. Quantitative survey design was applied for this research. Multan district was selected for study .There were 221 students of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences selected as sample from public universities Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Emerson University Multan and women University Multan. There were 44 items questionnaire based on Likert scale was developed with the help of supervisor, review of literature and available experts of relevant field. After ensuring the validity of questionnaire and plot testing was conducted. For internal reliability, Cronbach’s Alpha was applies to calculate the reliability. Value of reliability was 0.936. Data was collected through research instruments and data were analyzed by using different statistical techniques i.e percentage, means, Standard Deviation and T-test. Data was interpreted and results were shown in tabular form. Mostly students access their social networks via smart phones and mostly have excellent learning after using social networks. Majority of students have strongly belief that social networks are helpful in their learning and have great impact in their academic life as well as used for entertainment. Social networks are used for interaction with people and for helping in their different kind of research works.
