Abstract

This study addresses the increased uncertainty of VUCA environments, where supply chain disruptions require more than the simple resilience approaches. Building upon previous research relating proactive resilience strategies (visibility and predefined decision plans) with performance, we suggest a comprehensive framework that expands upon these previously mentioned concepts by adding Digital Transformation (DT) as a mediating mechanism and Strategic Agility (SA) as a moderating catalyst. Digital Transformation is envisaged as the union of IoT, analytics, cloud, and AI that transforms the quality of visibility and decision-plan data into real-time decision quality, process efficiency, and innovation. SA, which is defined as the capacity of the organization's ability to sense, seize and reconfigure resources rapidly, is believed to increase the effect of both DT and ambidextrous capability on performance. A structured questionnaire of 6 constructs: Visibility, Decision Plans, DT, Ambidextrous Capability, SA, Organizational Performance have been administered to 400 manufacturing managers and the data have been analyzed using SmartPLS 4, showing the reliability, convergent and discriminant validity. Structural-model results show that DT has a significant mediating effect on the relationship between proactive resilience strategies and performance, and ambidextrous capability has a further transmission effect. Moreover, SA has a positive moderating effect on the relationships between DT and performance and between DT and ambidexterity and improves the explanatory power of the model. The findings build out the theory of resilience through showing how digital and strategic dynamism interact to turn visibility and planning into superior operational efficiency, adaptability, innovation, and financial outcomes. Practically, managers are prescribed to invest simultaneously in real time digital infrastructures, balanced exploration-exploitation routines and agile governance in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
