This study examined the influence of financial literacy and the understanding of the Time Value of Money (TVM) on personal investment decisions. Financial literacy, encompassing knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward financial management, has been widely recognized as a determinant of rational and effective investment behavior. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 300 individual investors through structured questionnaires measuring financial knowledge, comprehension of TVM, risk perception, and investment practices. Statistical analyses, including correlation and regression tests, were employed to assess the relationships among the variables. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between financial literacy and investment decision quality, indicating that individuals with higher literacy levels exhibited better risk assessment, portfolio diversification, and long-term planning. Similarly, comprehension of TVM significantly influenced investment decisions, with participants demonstrating more systematic evaluation of future returns and discounting of present versus future values. The study also found that demographic factors such as age, education, and investment experience moderated these relationships, highlighting the need for context-specific financial education. These findings suggest that enhancing both general financial literacy and temporal financial understanding is crucial for promoting informed, strategic, and confident investment decisions. The study contributes to the literature by integrating behavioral, cognitive, and temporal dimensions of financial literacy and offers practical implications for financial educators, institutions, and policymakers aiming to foster sustainable investment behavior.
