The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which was initiated by China in 2013, has become a paradigm of global collaboration in the area of infrastructural growth and economic integration, as well as cultural exchange. In this broad project, educational diplomacy has emerged as a very vital tool of people to people relations and the development of strategic goals in over 70 countries. This review discusses the diverse opportunities and intricate challenges which typify educational diplomacy within the BRI paradigm. Based on the modern research and empirical data of various geographic settings, this paper determines the emerging themes of cooperation in higher education, mobility of students, partnerships among institutions, and soft power projection. Although educational programs offer some of the best capacity building opportunities, talent development and understanding of each other cultures, there still exist a number of challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, variations in qualification recognition, and issues of governance. The provided review sums up the existing information and suggests the strategic directions, which would help to develop the efficacy and sustainability of educational diplomacy in the BRI framework.
