Examining the Correlation Between Motorway Infrastructure and District-Level Literacy Rates: A Case Study of Punjab

This study uses district-level data and geographic analysis to investigate the relationship between road infrastructure and literacy outcomes in Punjab, Pakistan. Districts with better motorway access, such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujrat, have significantly higher literacy rates than remote, unconnected districts, such as Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh, according to a study that links literacy rates to national motorways (M-1 to M-5 and CPEC routes). The study uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to identify key factors that link highway connectivity to human capital development, including improved institutional access, educational mobility, and private sector involvement. To reduce regional inequalities and encourage inclusive literacy development, it concludes by promoting transport policies that are integrated with educational planning.
