Abstract

This study explores the psychological readiness of university teachers in Punjab, Pakistan, to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into classroom practices. While AI technologies offer transformative potential in education through personalized learning and automation, their successful adoption hinges on teachers' emotional, cognitive, and motivational preparedness. Using a quantitative research design and responses from 250 faculty members across five universities, the study examined the influence of psychological factors, institutional support, and perceived barriers on AI readiness. Findings reveal that technological self-efficacy, positive attitudes, and perceived usefulness significantly enhance readiness, whereas AI-related anxiety and ethical concerns hinder it. Institutional support such as training and leadership encouragement emerged as a strong predictor of preparedness. Additionally, demographic variables like age and teaching discipline influenced readiness levels. The study underscores the need for comprehensive professional development and supportive policies to ensure ethical, confident, and effective AI integration in higher education.
