From Workplace Ethos to Employee Performance Effectiveness: An SOR Approach Using PLS-SEM to Examine the Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction

The core intention of this study is to deeply explore the effects of spirituality on the employee performance of the banking sector. It, therefore, examined three dimensions of spirituality, i.e., roles of meaningful work, inner life, and sense of community, and their influence on employee performance through their job satisfaction as a mediator. A quantitative approach is used; therefore applied PLS4.0 and SPSS were applied for data analysis. The data was collected from 225 employees of the conventional banks of Karachi City. Convenience sampling was employed to collect the data timely manner. The findings therefore revealed that all three dimensions of spirituality i.e. meaningful work, inner life and sense of community significantly impact employee performance, with mediating role of the job satisfaction, therefore, these relationships, suggesting that fostering a spiritualitly enriches work environment and can enhance employee performance at large, it can also enhance their job satisfaction and reduces burnout ratio.
