Abstract

The core purpose of this article is to identify the intentions of political leaders while they have been talking about the prosperity of country. Here in this article, researcher's mainly have focused on speeches of two major political leaders of Pakistan, one is Quaid e Azam (Founder of Pakistan) and second is Imran khan (former Prime Minister of Pakistan). The researchers have analyzed linguistic choices made by Imran khan and Quaid e Azam in their speeches by applying speech act theory. The data has collected through different online websites and from subtitles of speeches of both leaders. The data has analyzed by applying speech act theory’s illocutionary speech acts which was present by J.L. Austin and John Searle which basically reveals the intentions and underlying meanings behind language or dialogues. The objective of this paper is to uncover the hidden ideologies and mindset of Quaid e Azam and Imran Khan in accordance of speeches. The difference in working of institutions of Pakistan has been discussed in this article. There Quaid e Azam had different point of view on working of institutions like judiciary, foreign policy, military, health, education and economic system of the country as well while Imran khan had other opinions about their working. Researchers have mentioned the dialogues of both leaders in which they showcase their point of view of being different.
