Traits of Nationalism: Potential Solutions to Mitigate Its Divisive Impacts

The last three decades have witnessed a growing interest in the phenomenon of nationalism and nationwide clashes. Scholars and researchers around the world are investing substantial amounts of time in studying nationalism, its bane and boon natures, its root causes, and its influence on the international level. Also, how the negative sides of nationalism promote wars, conflicts, instability, and nationwide clashes. By understanding the constructive and destructive natures of nationalism, the present study aims to find potential solutions and pragmatic ways to weaken the negative aspects of nationalism. The study is conducted with the theoretical approach by comprehensive analysis of the existing literature, historical documents, and scholarly articles spanning disciplines such as history, political science, sociology, and psychology. The findings of the study are beneficial for consensus building at national and international levels.
